Hunter-Reay claims first IndyCar Series victory at Watkins Glen

Dana Garrett/IRLWATKINS GLEN, N.Y., Sunday, July 6, 2008 - Ryan Hunter-Reay claimed his first IndyCar Series victory, winning the Camping World Grand Prix at The Glen by 2.4009 seconds over Darren Manning.

In a race where favorites Scott Dixon of Target Chip Ganassi Racing and Ryan Briscoe of Team Penske looked like the drivers to beat, the underdogs from Rahal Letterman Racing and A.J. Foyt Racing prevailed.

The age-old question in auto racing: Is it better to be lucky or good? Scott Dixon is both right now.

In fact, send Dixon a dollar and have him buy your next lotto ticket. That’s just how lucky the New Zealand racer is.

With just a slight question of maybe being tight on fuel to make it to the end of the Bombardier Learjet 550k at Texas Motor Speedway under green, Dixon would’ve welcomed just another couple of caution laps.
