Collins, Edwards Win Grand-Am GT Classic at Lime Rock Park

Lakeville, CT. — Kelly Collins and Paul Edwards capped off a Pontiac-strong Grand-Am GT Classic weekend at Lime Rock Park , delivering the win for the No. 07 Banner Racing GXP.R team. Runner-up honors went to the SpeedSource Mazda RX-8 team of Nick Ham / Sylvian Tremblay.
Completing the podium was the Wilmington, NC based Stevenson Motorsports/ Bryan Mark Financial sponsored Pontiac team of Robin Liddell and Andrew Davis
The 1.53-mile, seven turn, road course nestled in the Berkshire Mountain region of Connecticut saw the entire 164 Lap event run caution free and the winner’s average speed was 99.193 MPH

Lewis, Pontiac Dominate Qualifying for Grand-Am GT Race at Lime Rock

Tim Lewis Jr. led a Pontiac GXP.R assault on the front two rows in qualifying for Monday’s Grand-Am GT Classic at Lime Rock Park, winning the pole for Round 6 of the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16.

The 164-lap, 250-mile race is set for 2 p.m. Monday on the 1.53-mile circuit, and will be televised live on SPEED. The race has a two hour, 45 minute time limit.

Lewis ran a track record lap of 52.393, 105.128 mph in the No. 72 Autohaus Motorsports Pontiac GXP.R, to become the sixth different GT class pole winner in 2008. Lewis won his lone career Rolex Series victory here last year, co-driving the No. 06 Banner Racing Pontiac GXP.R with Leighton Reese.

Dalziel and Zogaib Scored First for SAMAX at Laguna Seca

MONTEREY, Calif. - Henri Zogaib and Ryan Dalziel delivered the best birthday present possible for SAMAX Motorsport team owner Peter Baron as the two combined for a convincing race win with the No. 2 Dinan BMW-Riley in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16Rumbum.com 250 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on Saturday. After racing back to the front from a lap down from the leaders, Dalziel led the final 23 laps to take the win.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – NHRA Pro Stock legend Warren ‘The Professor’ Johnson (left) added another No. 1 qualifying performance to his career stats, picking up his NHRA-record 138th Saturday at the O’Reilly NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway.

Tony Schumacher and Mike Neff also were No. 1 qualifiers in their respective categories at the eighth of 24 events in the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series.

MONTEREY, Calif. - GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing will for the first time field two Daytona Prototype race cars in Saturday’s RumBum.com 250 (SPEED, May 18 at Noon ET) at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in a history-making Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 race that will see champion driver Cristiano da Matta make his first professional race start since recovering from life-threatening injuries in an August 2006 testing accident.
