WATKINS GLEN, NY – Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas combined to lead 142 of 188 laps on the way to giving Lexus its first victory of the season in today’s Rolex Sports Car Series’ Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen at Watkins Glen International.

Starting from the pole position, Pruett took the lead with the green flag and led the first 21 circuits. The #01 Telmex Lexus fell back in the field after a problem refueling on the first pit stop, but Rojas regained the top spot on Lap 62 and led the next 30 laps before handing the car back off to Pruett.

Target Chip Ganassi Racing driver Dario Franchitti added more fuel the TCGR/Penske 2009 IRL feud by winning the PEAK Performance Pole Award for tonight’s running of the Bombardier Learjet 550k under the lights at Texas Motor Speedway, in the process, securing another 2 all-important championship points.

Franchitti , the 13th qualifier on the 1.5-mile, high-banked oval, wrestled the provisional pole from Penske’s Ryan Briscoe with a four-lap average of 214.513 mph (1 minute, 37.6725 seconds) in the No. 10 Energizer car.

Wolf Henzler and Jorg Bergmeister, both Porsche factory drivers and 2008 American Le Mans Series GT champions with their Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, received the All-American First Team At Large award at Saturday night’s 39th annual American Auto Racing Writers and Broadcasters Association (AARWBA) All-America Team ceremony, presented by A1GP World Cup of Motorsport. AARWBA members annually elect drivers to the Team from seven categories: Stock car, open-wheel, drag racing, road racing, short track, touring series and at-large.

Penske Porsche RS Spyder drivers Romain Dumas (France) and Timo Bernhard (Germany) were elected to the All-American Second Team in the road racing category as well. Other All-American Team drivers to earn Horsepower Trophies were: Tony Schumacher and Cruz Pedregon (drag racing); Jimmie Johnson and Carl Edwards (stock car); Scott Dixon and Helio Castroneves (open wheel); Scott Pruett/Memo Rojas and David Brabham/Scott Sharp (road racing); Johnny Benson and Justin Allgaier (touring series); Jerry Coons Jr. and Donny Schatz (short track); and Raphael Matos (at-large).

Grand Am GT Class — Automatic Racing and the BMW M6 — David Russell’s View

ORLANDO, Fla. - Like any new race car our BMW M6 is undergoing numerous modifications in order to be competitive. We considered that qualifying 18th out of 42 cars at Daytona, 1.4 seconds off the pole, a solid first step. However, not unlike most teams, we are not in the series to make up the numbers and therefore must advance each area of our race car package. Subsequently, back in the shop our one-race old M6 is going thru a series of changes which we trust will move us closer to our 2008 goals.
