Ragan on racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway:

“I’m pretty pumped up to be going back to my hometown track. I love going to Atlanta, it’s close to home and the track is fun to race at. It’s a fast track with multiple grooves, which lets us choose different lines around the track. We’ve had some average weeks so far, but need to step it up and get a good hometown finish. UPS is also based in Atlanta, so we really want to get a good finish for them.”

Crew chief Donnie Wingo on racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway:

“I really like racing at Atlanta. There are multiple grooves and the tires wear out fast so it makes the driver have to work their way around the track to find different lines. It really is a challenging track because of the rate the tires wear out. So if you aren’t too fast to start with and you can be consistent on a long run, you’ll be better off in the end. Atlanta is home to David and our sponsor UPS, so we’re looking to get a good finish for everyone.”

David Ragan, of whom Roush Fenway Racing teammate Carl Edwards characterizes as “wise beyond his years” won the NASCAR Nationwide Series Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway last night.

The victory was win number 2 in the second-tier series for the Unadilla, Ga. native, the first coming at Talladega earlier this season.

The No. 6 Discount Tire Ford Fusion driver managed a strong restart on a green-white-checkered-flag finish and held off RFR teammate Edwards in what proved to be a relatively quiet final shootout by Bristol standards.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Aug. 25, 2008) – Two races remain before the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, and a lot will happen between now and then. Some of the questions still unanswered:

Q: Should we expect any more fireworks from Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch?
A: Probably – and sooner rather than later. Both drivers are excellent at Auto Club Speedway, meaning both should run up front, and both could be battling for the win yet again. Both have a win there, and they rank three-four in Driver Rating at Auto Club Speedway. Busch is third with a 109.9 Driver Rating, while Edwards has a 105.6.

Ragan Looks for Strong Return to RIR

David Ragan, driver of the No. 6 AAA Ford Fusion, is looking forward to racing at Richmond this Saturday night following his season-best fourth place at Talladega last Sunday. Ragan, who grew up short-track racing in Georgia, says Richmond, which is a three-quarter-mile track, is like a bigger, faster short track.

DAVID RAGAN – No. 6 AAA Ford Fusion – “Richmond is an awesome race track. I love racing on Saturday night, racing underneath the lights. That’s always been one of my favorite race tracks growing up watching, because you could pass on the outside, you could run the bottom, 400 laps. It’s a good length, it’s not long race where you have to get out there and ride for a certain amount of time. You can race the whole race. Richmond is an awesome place to race. Plus, it’s close to home so you can be home just a couple of hours after the race, so just about everything about it is good.”
