Last Sunday at Talladega, Jamie McMurray (No. 26 Crown Royal Ford) ended quite a few droughts.

First, he ended a personal 86-race winless drought that dated back to July 2007.

Second, he ended a Roush Fenway Racing drought that dated back to this year’s first Auto Club Speedway race, won by teammate Matt Kenseth (No. 17 DEWALT Ford). That was 30 races long. [read more...]

HAMPTON, Ga. (Sept. 5, 2009) — Kevin Harvick passed polesitter Dale Earnhardt Jr. on the next-to-last lap and pulled away to win Saturday night’s Degree V12 300 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Kyle Busch, who also passed Earnhardt on Lap 194 of 195, ran second and padded his NASCAR Nationwide Series points lead from 192 to 221 over second-place Carl Edwards, who completed the race despite fracturing two bones in his right foot playing Frisbee on Wednesday. Edwards finished seventh, one lap down.

After pitting for the last time on Lap 125, Earnhardt saved enough fuel to make it to the end of the race but couldn’t stay ahead of Busch and Harvick, who came to the pits for four tires and gas on Lap 181 and 182, respectively.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup cut-off bubble is as tight as ever. One single point is the difference between competing for a championship and missing out altogether.
Mark Martin is 13th, one point behind Denny Hamlin in 12th. Only once in the Chase era (2004-Present) have the standings been this close at this juncture. After 14 races in 2005, when the Chase was a 10-driver field, 11th-place Kurt Busch trailed 10th-place Tony Stewart by a point. [read more...]

Q. DALE EARNHARDT HAS TALKED OFTEN ABOUT HOW MUCH HE LOVED WORKING WITH TONY EURY JR. DOES WORKING WITH LANCE HELP HIM STOMACH THIS?

HENDRICK: “That’s a hard question. Success will take care of anything. You love working with someone, but when you’re not getting the job done, when it’s not working and you become and everybody’s kind of scratching their heads then you have to change something. You just can’t go back the same way. I talked to Tony this morning. He was bubbly and laughing. Sure they would like to work together, and sure, they’re cousins and they care for each other. But both of them want to be successful and I think both of them want to be successful first. [read more...]

Keselowski Writes His Name in Talladega Record Books with First, Wild Win

By Bram • Apr 26th, 2009 • Category: NASCAR, News, Notes, Results, Sprint Cup Series

TALLADEGA, ALA. — Carl Edwards was heading for Victory Lane when a nudge from rookie Brad Keselowski sent him careening into the frontstretch retaining fence to end a wild and wooly Aaron’s 499 Nascar Sprint Cup race here Sunday. Edwards ended up finishing 24th.

The last-lap wreck also took veteran Ryan Newman out of the race as well. Newman had tucked in behind Edwards and pushed him towards what appeared to be a sure-fire Edwards win before the bumping incident.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.

An interview with: DALE EARNHARDT, JR.

Q. Talk about having two major factors in your life with racing and the business side of things:

DALE EARNHARDT, JR.: Well, you sort of go into it real easy, I guess. I don’t know. When I first started doing any type of business venture, even if it was really small, you know, you really worried about how it might affect the driving, because the driving is my real passion and that’s what I really like to do. I don’t want to affect that in any way, because I want to do that as long as I possibly can.

You go into it slow and you learn. One of the more important things I guess is having the right people in the right place to handle the business side of it, ’cause, I mean, I like to do different types of things, but to be honest, my business experience isn’t as good, I guess, as my racing experience. I have to lean on a lot of people, lean on some people’s judgment. You put good people in the right place; they’ll run those type of deals for you, where you can focus on the racing.
