Partnership Allows For Sharing Of Resources With NASCAR

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Sept. 4, 2008) – NASCAR Holdings today announced an agreement to acquire the Grand-American Road Racing Association (Grand-Am). The future move will allow for resource sharing between Grand-Am and NASCAR while both organizations continue to operate independently. NASCAR Holdings is the legal operating entity that includes the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) and many of its subsidiaries.

Grand-Am, one of the world’s most competitive road racing organizations, and NASCAR, the No. 1 spectator sport in the U.S., will combine marketing and communications efforts to include brand management, research, marketing and public relations.

Grand-Am consists of six racing series, including the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series and the Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series, which has millions of loyal fans.

“This combination of resources will benefit Grand-Am and NASCAR, their competitors and fans, as the two companies work together to enhance the two sports,” said Jim France, NASCAR Vice Chairman and Grand-Am founder.

The two racing brands will continue to independently sanction and officiate race events for their own series and there will be no change in management. Roger Edmondson will continue to serve as president of Grand-Am.

There has been a rise in crossover drivers and team owners between Grand-Am and NASCAR in recent years. NASCAR drivers such as Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart, Kyle Petty, Bobby Labonte, Juan Pablo Montoya, Kurt Busch and Jeff Gordon have raced in the Grand-Am Rolex Series. Full time driver and 2008 Grand-Am Daytona Prototype team champion Scott Pruett has driven in many NASCAR events. Chip Ganassi and Richard Childress own teams in both sports.

Donohue Encouraged By NASCAR’s Acquisition of Grand-Am

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Sept. 4, 2008) - David Donohue, who shares the No. 58 Brumos Porsche Riley with Darren Law, was happy with the news of NASCAR’s acquisition of Grand-Am.

“I don’t know all the details, but I think it’s very encouraging to have a direct relationship between Grand-Am and NASCAR,” Donohue said. “I think NASCAR’s success, especially in this country, is a benchmark for motorsports. If we can ride on that coat tail, I think we have a great series and a great foundation to build upon.”

Donohue has been a regular in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 since 2003, when he won three races for Brumos and came within eight points of capturing the inaugural Daytona Prototype championship. Before that, he saw action in NASCAR’s Nationwide and Craftsman Truck Series, in addition to winning the Bridgestone Supercar and North American Touring Car championship, and capturing his class in the 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Donohue feels the relationship with NASCAR can provide some of the resources to help Grand-Am continue to grow.

“Hopefully, this can grow into what we all wished sports car racing would always be,” Donohue said “That’s what people will want to seek out and watch on TV, come out and spectate at the races, and support us. Then, more sponsors will come on board. Hopefully, it’s a snowball effect.”

Donohue and Law are currently tied for fifth in the Daytona Prototype point standings, only one point ahead of teammates JC France and Joao Barbosa with only the season finale at Miller Motorsports Park near Salt Lake City, Utah, remaining on the 2008 schedule.

NASCAR And The EPA Join To Promote High Efficiency Vehicles To Fans

SmartWay® - Certified Vehicles On Display At NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Races Beginning With Chevy Rock & Roll 400 In Richmond

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Sept. 4, 2008) – The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have formed a partnership to promote high-efficiency, fuel-saving vehicles to fans attending NASCAR races.

This weekend at the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 at Richmond International Raceway, Chevrolet vehicles that are EPA SmartWay® certified will be on display for fans. The SmartWay logo identifies products and services that reduce transportation-related emissions. At the event, fans are encouraged to look for the “SmartWay Certified Vehicles on Display Here!” banner.

Dodge, Ford and Toyota manufacturers also competing in NASCAR, will showcase their SmartWay vehicles at upcoming NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events in which they have exclusive race track partnerships. Chevrolet is the official vehicle partner of Richmond International Raceway.

“The EPA and NASCAR are joining together in this innovative partnership to showcase fuel-efficient vehicles made by the manufacturers our fans root for each week,” said Marcus Jadotte, Managing Director, Public Affairs for NASCAR. “While helping our manufacturer partners promote their vehicles, NASCAR is also sharing an important conservation message. When NASCAR and its fans can reduce our fuel consumption, we’ll also limit greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution to help improve our environment.”

SmartWay is a designation earned by vehicles meeting EPA-set Air Pollution and Greenhouse Gas Scores. Higher Air Pollution Scores indicate vehicles with reduced levels of emissions that cause smog and health problems. Higher Greenhouse Gas Scores indicate vehicles with reduced levels of greenhouse gas emissions and improved fuel economy.

Among NASCAR’s vehicle partners, a variety of makes and models have received the EPA SmartWay designation, providing drivers with a range of options whether they’re looking for a compact car, mid-size sedan or sport utility vehicle. Using Model Year 2008 data, there are more than 2,600 different models and configurations available; more than 690 model configurations, or approximately 26%, are SmartWay certified.

“Only the ‘greenest’ vehicles merit SmartWay designation,” said EPA SmartWay Program Manager Mitch Greenberg. “Since NASCAR fans are auto enthusiasts, it makes sense for EPA and NASCAR to partner together to raise awareness of SmartWay-certified vehicles.”

Following are some upcoming NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races that will have SmartWay vehicle display areas. Ford will display its SmartWay vehicles at the Camping World RV 400 presented by Coleman on Sept. 28 at Kansas Speedway and the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Nov. 16. Dodge will showcase its SmartWay vehicles at the Amp Energy 500 at Talladega Superspeedway on October 5. Toyota’s SmartWay vehicles will be seen at an upcoming race and location to be determined. Fans interested in SmartWay certified vehicles can visit EPA’s SmartWay web site at, http://www.epa.gov/smartway.
