Grand-Am photoJACKSONVILLE, Fla. (June 18, 2008) - The EMCO Gears Classic at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course will mark the halfway point for the 2008 Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 Daytona Prototype competition. Brumos Racing has shown steady improvement in each race the first half of the season, with both cars top-10 finishers the last two races.

Totaling four top-10 finishes this season, the No. 59 Brumos entry is currently within five points of Grand-Am’s top five in Team Point Standings, while the No. 58 car is just three points away from the top 10, following their recent season-best second-place finish.

Brumos is no stranger to Mid-Ohio’s Victory Lane, having scored with their first-ever win at that track back in 1974. Last year saw a strong performance once again, with the No. 58 car qualifying third and finishing the race in the fifth place. Driver Darren Law is definitely looking forward to his return there.

“We did some testing after our last race which went really well,” Law said. “We got some ideas and made a few changes which should help us at Mid-Ohio. It is a good track for us; we qualified well and ran well in the race there last year. Based on our performance this year and the momentum we are bringing, I’d say we will have a good run and a good shot at the victory.”

Brumos leader Dan Davis agreed.

“Our team has worked really hard this season, and good results have started to come our way,” Davis said. “We have had a good history at Mid-Ohio, and believe our hard work and momentum will help us gain a podium finish for this race.”

Team Manager Mike Colucci is also proud of the team’s strong performance.

“Both of our cars, this year, have run a strong race at every track,” Colucci said. “Our level of success has demonstrated that Brumos drivers and cars can be competitive and adapt to any type of course. At our last race we came up just a little short of a victory, but I’d say right now that we are very competitive. So, as for Mid-Ohio, we’ll be ready - and we’ll do well.”

Both Brumos cars will be returning to Mid-Ohio with a high level of confidence, as all team members agree with their drivers that a victory is not only forthcoming, it is long overdue. The EMCO Gears Classic will be held on Saturday, June 21, beginning at 5 p.m. ET, and will be televised live on Speed TV. The team will then be staying for an additional day to take advantage of Grand-Am’s next Test Day, to be held on Monday following the race.
